Standard Rotavirus

Hallo Sportfreunde,

Youngbirds are dying all over the country it seems .One lad called into me a few days ago and he has now only four youngsters left from over eighty weaned off .Lots and lots of fanciers are in the same boat .Another lad called today and he said that he noticed some of his yesterday and they were unable to stand up properly but their droppings werent bad but later yesterday evening he had a look and he couldnt believe how much weight had gone off some of them .This morning he had twelve dead. Yet another fancier says his are dying but that the dropping are just dark blue bottle green .A few that are on here are blaming the fact that they used an oral salmonella vaccine last October even though they say that their birds werent showing any clinical signs of salmonella but they had been advised by the person who tested their droppings etc, to treat and use this oral vaccine .I myself would not like to blame this vaccine as I know of alot of fanciers who are having terrible trouble with youngsters dying and they hadnt used this oral or any type of salmonella vaccine .I hear also that in the Uk ,Belgium and Holland also there are big losses .Some fanciers are also saying that we imported some kind of sickness this year but I dont realy believe that either as the two fanciers not far from me who are cleaned out and they never brought in any pigeons this year.I even heard it said that it was the couriers fault but how can this be when the courier is only collecting pigeons from where he is told to go to and he would have no control over the loft that the birds came out of ,a fancier may have a sickness in his loft but could still ship pigeons that in his opinion weren't sick but how does he know that these youngsters weren't in the first stage of this sickness but were just not showing any clinical signs and then you get them and bang down they go and you phone the fancier who sent them to you and he isnt going to say "well I did have some sickness in my loft but your were ok " no he will say " well they were perfect when they left here and I have no sickness in my loft " He dosnt want to get tied up with giving back money or sending in a batch of replacements. Now dont get me wrong I am not saying that all fanciers are like this but I am saying this ,what ever is wrong with our youngsters this year it is deadly and it is spreading all over Europe. One day they are fine and the next they are dead. You can blame what you like but you know something even the pigeon vets dont know what is going on.
